Our mission is to eradicate human trafficking locally through awareness, advocacy, prayer, and victim services.
Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative is a 501(c)3 faith-based organization whose mission is to connect the local community and law enforcement to eradicate human trafficking. Our strategy is to network, serve, pray, and create awareness to mobilize the local Church and community to make a difference in their own neighborhoods and ultimately, eradicate human trafficking in Northern Virginia.
Our mission also includes caring for the victims of human trafficking - from the crucial first 48 hours when they are pulled from trafficking situations to the time when they are ready to live and work on their own. Since 2015, NOVA - HTI has served 82 victims rescued from human trafficking.
Our hope is that victims of abuse and injustice will be fully restored through a relationship with Jesus. Although we believe the Church is responsible for creating an environment of justice and mercy in our everyday world, we consider it our role to serve the whole community, including those of other beliefs, by empowering them to make a difference.
In 2010, our congressional representative, Frank Wolf, asked the local faith community to be involved in the fight against human trafficking in Northern Virginia. The Pastors Consortium, a local group of church leaders, heeded this call by forming a team, then called the Loudoun Human Trafficking Task Force.
The Task Force decided the best way to fight trafficking was to serve those already in the fight, such as government agencies, non-profits, and service providers, by creating awareness in the community and funneling the community members and their resources to them.
At the beginning of 2013 we re-branded ourselves as the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative (NOVA - HTI) and at the beginning of 2014, we revised our mission statement to clarify our role in fighting human trafficking and caring for victims.
NOVA - HTI officially became a 501(c)3 organization. We are excited about being able to serve all who are interested in being part of this cause.
