Title: Testimony from a Mother of a Sex Trafficking Victim
Audience: Open to All in the Community - 16 or older
Susan Young was born in the suburbs of Northern Virginia and is the mother of 4 beautiful children. She attended local schools, pursued college, started her career in fashion, and married her best friend. From the outside, her life appeared to be on a normal path. Growing up in the suburbs of Virginia, near the Nation’s Capital, she felt protected by the bubble of our great nation. Little did she know that one cold February day, the life of her family would change forever.
At the age of 15, her eldest daughter was sold into sex trafficking, not far from her suburban home. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. For several years, her family and 3 younger children, 3, 11 and 12 at the time, were relentlessly tormented. She never thought it would end. Day after day, her faith, values, and everything that she held dear was tested and stretched, seemingly beyond repair. Somehow, through faith, family and the support of State and Local law enforcement, they made it through.
Susan is a mother, your neighbor, and a survivor. She is compelled to share her testimony to influence change. She believes that through the help of our local, state and federal leaders, the media, and our fellow citizens, we can make a difference. Come learn how we can be the voice for change, to protect our families, our values, and our children from human trafficking.
