Meet Kay Duffield
Kay's life calling has been to help those who have been abused, unloved, trapped in hopelessness, or dissatisfied with life, by assisting them to walk in their true life calling and God-given destiny. A few years ago Kay went on a short-term mission trip with a good friend to the red-light district of Chiang Mai in Thailand. For three weeks they ministered, trained, and helped plant a house church for beautiful people who were trapped in modern day slavery. God broke Kay's heart, not just for those being sold, but for the traffickers and johns as well. Determined to make a difference in her own backyard, she came home asking God what she could do here in Northern Virginia.
Shortly after her experience in Thailand, Kay re-connected with her friend, Elisa Johnston (NOVA HTI's former Director--read why she resigned here), who is an advocate of local anti-trafficking organizations. Kay quickly learned that trafficking was an existing, and growing, problem in Northern Virginia, and in the summer of 2012 Kay started volunteering with NOVA HTI. Shortly after that she started leading NOVA HTI's Victims Services team.
Once Elisa decided to step down as NOVA HTI's Director, she asked Kay to consider stepping into the position. After prayerful consideration, Kay felt God's call to become NOVA HTI's Director, and took over the position in June of this year. As Director, she now has an opportunity to begin meeting with the Pastors, church leaders, and other NGO's, throughout the Northern Virginia region, and invite them to partner with NOVA HTI in this important fight. It is seeing churches and organizations working together to make a larger impact that makes Kay smile.
Kay is a passionate follower of Jesus. She believes that Jesus came to bind the broken hearted and set the captives free, and as followers of Christ we should do the same. Human trafficking is such a complex problem, it will take all of us to eradicate modern day slavery. If you, your church, or organization, are interested in partnering with NOVA HTI, please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
"A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken."
